His maternal grandfather was Charles Boden Tucker from Walsall, a Primitive Methodist minister: if I remember rightly they are buried side by side in Loughborough cemetery. Burleigh Cottage, in which CHBT lived was at the end of William Street, but is now demolished. I've done quite a bit of research into the Tucker family history: please email me if you would like to know more. Thank you again, Lynnestjeromehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02358079860710812787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260542616882131850.post-85577251390257758242022-01-23T19:39:42.192+00:002022-01-23T19:39:42.192+00:00I would be very interested if anyone had any infor...I would be very interested if anyone had any information about a Bowden Tucker....my late Grandad I believed he was one of the directors of Tucker bricks...lived in a house now demolished on land that Loughborough University is on. He was married to Mabel Tucker and had 1 child my Mum Jeanne Rosemary Tucker. Bowden was tragically killed in and automobile accident when my Mum was young. My personal opinion is that it's the site that is now Charnwood Water. This is based on photos I've seen that have been shared on the Facebook Remember Loughborough Group, particularly this one: https://www.facebook.com/groups/rememberloughborough?post_id=3393285397383371 If you're on that group you will be able to see the photo, but I'm not sure of you can otherwise. If you do see it, let me know whether you also think it's the Charnwood Water site. In the ROLLR image, the workman looks to me as though he's wearing clothes from the 1940s/50s, but again, I have no solid information, just my opinion! Thanks for reading the blog and taking the time to comment. Tracing one's family tree is a fascinating thing to do and can lead to all sorts of interesting information coming out. The reason I only briefly mentioned John E. was because I probably only researched the branch who remained in Loughborough, and then I wouldn't have followed even those lines down too much as I don't like to talk too much about people who are potentially still alive. There's an interesting article I don't think I found at the time I wrote this post, which you might find interesting: http://www.myprimitivemethodists.org.uk/page/gilbert_tucker Do let me know if I've got anything wrong, or if anything else interesting pops up. Thanks again, Lynne stjeromehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02358079860710812787noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260542616882131850.post-58287303523979884652018-07-19T19:37:11.519+01:002018-07-19T19:37:11.519+01:00Hello Lynne, I found this article very interesting...Hello Lynne, I found this article very interesting as I'm researching my family tree and Tucker was my mother's maiden name. Gilbert Tucker junior was my great great grandfather and his son John E Tucker was mentioned briefly in your article but not expanded on. He went to live in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada when he was about 20 years old. He met and married a Nova Scotian named Harriet Gardner. They had three children born in Canada, one of which was my grandfather John Gilbert Tucker and they came to live in England around the turn of the century. They had two more children in England. They settled in West Bridgford, Nottingham. Thanks for adding a link to my blog post too. Since I wrote the post, I've discovered that Tuckers had another pit, near Ingle Pingle and the allotments behind Forest Road, which is now a pond. Also, a substantial Victorian property constructed by Tuckers has recently been sold: the estate agents details are worth a look https://alexanders-estates.com/property-for-sale/loughborough-charnwood-road/le11-2bn/1836373 My research is never finished so I'll keep on with it and post more as I find it.
