Walk along the canal towpath

So, more changes are afoot in Loughborough! Some of the canal towpath is now closed until around the beginning of May, while the muddy route, from the Moor Lane Bridge (No.35) to Chainbridge (No.39B), is improved. The work is being done by the Canal and Rivers Trust and is expected to make it a more pleasant journey underfoot for people walking along it.

This particular stretch of the towpath is one of my regular walking routes, as I'm sure it is for others, too. It will be lovely if the new path is like that which is outside the former I&R Morley / Riker / 3M building (now converted to apartments and called 'The Mill'). And it will be great to be able to walk along the path without getting the old shoes caked in mud during the winter, and without worrying about slipping over into the cut! Such a pity that the whole route has to be closed off for so long, and that I shall have to find some other uplifting walk to take on 'blue Monday'!

Here are some photos from some of my walks along that route of the canal towpath:

It really can get very muddy along here!
