Here we are at Day 4 of the 31 days of Graves challenge, and so far, so good. Today’s theme is hearts. This one proved somewhat difficult!
I was looking around the old cemetery on Leicester Road, and clearly hearts were not a particularly popular image in the 1800-1900s. I did find one in the new part of the cemetery, but decided not to showcase that one.
Below is the only one I found in the old cemetery: it is from 2013, but harks back to a tragic time in 1947. Mark was 5 weeks old when he died: Margaret was 89 when she died. Margaret Leyland had married Charles Lewin in 1942: Charles died three years before Margaret, in 2010. The first picture shows the heart-shaped memorial in context. The inscription is perfectly legible.
After today's rather emotional memorial, tomorrow's will be in contrast to yesterday's!!
Thank you for staying with me.
